Specialist work for the National Trust

The Wheal Jane Laboratory has recently completed the collection, analysis and disposal of chemicals found at Trelissick Manor House on behalf of the National Trust. The chemicals had remained abandoned in the basement of the house for many years and required specialist handling and treatment. The Trust were anxious to retain the bottles and other historic artefacts, including newspapers dating back to the 1940s which had been used to wrap some of the bottles. All the items have now been returned to the Trust where they will be on public display.

The gardens and estate have been in the hands of the National Trust for some years, but the Manor House is now also under its stewardship of the Trust. The preservation and presentation of the house, which is now partly furnished, is an ongoing project for the Trust. In the meantime, Trelissick House is regularly open to visitors.
